Help: applied for a Trainee driver position with GTR

Hello,
I'm new to this site so hope I'm doing this right.
I applied for a Trainee driver position with GTR (Thameslink) in January and received an email on 7 Feb inviting me to an assessment day. Problem is they've asked me to go to the 'Assessment scheduling' tool on their careers portal and book a slot but I can't find this tool anywhere. I've sent emails to the resourcing team but no response and there is no number to phone them. Getting worried now that I'm missing something really obvious and could miss the opportunity. I'd be really grateful if someone could direct me on this or give any other advice. It's driving me nuts!

I'm having the same issue on the LM one. It might be because I missed the email though.

when you log on to your account scroll down past all the xacancies and you will see options for your communications . emails etc one of them should say assessments

Thanks Froggie - I have done that but there is no assessment option. Maybe it's not availabel yet?

If nothing appears soon (the assessment button on your job portal) then give them a ring at Go Ahead House in Croydon.

It's because you left it too late to schedule an assessment and all the slots were taken. In the next week you'll get an email explaining this and they'll tell you that you will get another email when more slots become available.

I know this because it happened to me.

Thanks for the replies. I'll def try that number Need2. I tried to book the slot as soon as I received the email and it's never been on there so can't see how I was too late.

I applied for GTR/1326 on 24 Jan and. It was advertised for Southern and received an email on 1 Feb saying my application was being considered but that I would be considered for Thameslink instead due to my location. I then received an email on 7 Feb saying my application was successful invitung me for an assessment. I'm thinking maybe the deadline for the Thameslink positions are later anfmd that's why the assessment is not on there. I'll try again tomorrow.

Thanks Need2. The 0208 929 8600 number worked and I got through to a lady in recruitment. She conformed what king_walnut said. There were not enough slots for everyone and got snapped up very quick so will have have to wait for next set. Phew...at least I didn't miss the boat (or train).

Had to go to Go Ahead House yesterday to do the DFFT. I had already passed the other assessments and MMI with another TOC.
Took the test with 3 other guys at noon, 3 or 4 had already been sent home for failing a test!
The test (dfft) I did was exactly the same as the practice material they sent me but I actually found it (the test) easier as all the paperwork/guides etc were in a better and more readable order, if that makes sense!
When you do get to book your assessment they will email all the practice material. All I can say is practice,practice and practice.
And don't panic!

I went there at 12 noon and the remaining 3 had been there since 9.30am.
I was told I had passed (and the other 3 candidates) the dfft and I could leave as mentioned before. From the quick chat I had with them was 1pm was going to be a break for lunch and then it was the computer screen 'dots' test, I think they said 1 other test then it was the mmi. (if it was being done on the same day)
If you pass all tests its definitely a 9.30 to 3.30/4pm day no problem.
1 of yesterdays candidates might pop up for a more exact timescale.

Hi Need2 I was 1 of the remaining 3 guys left and it was rather taxing. Of the first lot of tests 5 failed and went straight home which left just me and 2 others. We somehow all managed to complete everything for the rest of the day and all passed. Started at 9.30am finished around 3.30pm.

I'd hate to do an MMI after a whole days worth of testing. But I guess everyone is in the same boat.

Tracerboy, were there any other additional tests that weren't in the preparation pack ?

No did not do MMI. Was contacted tonight about line manager interview next week at blackfriars. So not sure if I will do a MMI after this on another date. It is moving very quickly it seems

Congrats on getting to this stage tracerboy. From what I've read on here, you do DMI next, then MMI another day, then medical.

Was the group bordon paper or computer ? I heard from someone who visited the Opc that computer group bordons don't happen anymore.

Well done mate, nearly there!
I would assume then that the MMI will be after the DMI and at a later date. (IIRC the MMI is conducted by an external company and not the TOC itself)
What day are you going to Blackfriars, I've got Tuesday?

I agree. The Group Bourdon test is SO much easier with a pen and paper. You can go SO much quicker.

DMI's seem to range from quite informal to very structured MMI "give an example of" type interviews. They all though want you to research and find out about the company.

any update on a new date? I recently received news I would be invited to assessment. When I phoned to ask for estimate on how long it might be before I hear. .......quite crabby and simply said 'any time this year'.

Frustrating but have to be patient eh!

Sorry for not replying sooner. I had my assessment on 8 March and passed all the tests. Didn't do the multo modal interiew though. Had my Line manger interview yesterday which seed ok but hard to tell how I did. I don't find out for about a week and I think I will have to do the MMI if I have passed yesterday's one. A bit strange as I would have thought they would do the MMI before the LMI. On the day of the assessment the fella running said there wasn't time to do the MMI's that day.

I hope you get a date soon and if you do, make sure you practice the exercises thoroughly as the practice dies definitely pay off.

From what I heard on the assessment day, they are still arranging more assessments.
