Heathrow terminal 5 underground

Apologies for the double post. I forgot to put a thread title in the last one and 'hi guys' isn't a broad enough question lol. admin please delete the last thread.

Anyway

I was wondering if anyone could explain anything about the underground tube, heathrow terminal 5 ?

Is it actually located inside the terminal 5? I have a day away in Germany tomorrow coming back Saturday, but from there im in London, so will leave the car at the airport.I would be getting the underground back on sunday, So what i was wondering is, is it ok to enter terminal 5 underground station and leave Heathrow terminal 5 without have an flight or anything at the airport, and get back to the carpark. Basically using it like a commuter,

The LU and Heathrow Express station is under the terminal, but no-one will know if you aren't catching an aeroplane. So you'll be okay there.

The lifts do go non stop from the station to departures, then call at arrivals on the way back though! There's escalators that don't do that.

I hope you don't mind me hijacking this thread now that it has been answered. As an extension to the original question is it possible to leave T5 as a pedestrian, or alternatively get a free shuttle bus to the outside? Reason being that I would like to get as far out of London as possible on Oyster PAYG and then walk to Windsor.

I think that you can leave T5 on foot. If not then the TfL buses and a few non TfL buses will be free up to a certain point. There is one that heads up to the road to Slough and is part of the Heathrow Free Flow zone.

Not heard of the Free Flow zone. Sounds interesting and very useful. I'll check it out. Thanks.

You can walk out of Terminal 5, but it's confusing. I headed for the car park/taxi drop off and followed their route out. I went there because it's the closest station to Ashford Town (MX) FC, but I didn't enjoy the walk alongside the airport.

Thanks for the map links. Looking at T5, no services appear stop within the freeflow area, at least going the direction I want. T123 looks like a much better option.

My mistake, that was Terminal 4.

You can also walk out of T5, from the ground (arrivals) level. Turn right out of the building along the road, past the square with the giant airport codes where the smokers congregate, and then the bike racks. You'll find yourself on a shared use (bike/foot) path that leads you along to the junction with Stanwell Moor Rd and the North Perimeter Rd.

Also look out for the opening of the PRT system - one of the car parks it serves will be in Longford Village (and there may be a stop designed for village and hotel use).
