Hi,

What is likely to be the fastest way to get from Heathrow T4 to Euston around 9.30am on a Sunday morning? Price is not really an issue, but I have a tight connection.

My top contenders are:
Heathrow Express then Circle/H&C to Euston Sq
or
Taxi

I can run certain sections if it helps

Heathrow Express to Padd, then a taxi to Euston is likely to be the fastest option.
Considerably cheaper than a taxi all the way too.

Suitcases? Any?

You didn't say how long you have.

I'd say Heathrow Express to Paddington, then H&C line to Euston Square (don't get Circle line as you'd have to change at Edgware Road, and it's quicker to run up the stairs from HEX to the H&C Line platforms anyway).

If you fancy a run, that'll be for Euston Square to Euston itself - but I suspect you'll be there in plenty of time and actually end up wanting to kill time before your train goes.

Piccadilly line not running between osterley and hammesmith bus replacement due engineering work, D6975's option best bet if no taxi's in rank tube entance near to rank.
How do you know? The OP has not stated which date he is travelling.

Both Circle and Hammersmith & City lines offer direct services [the trains originating at Hammersmith] from Paddington (Suburban) to Euston Square with no need to change at Edgware Road.

What I was trying to say was that you mustn't (well, shouldn't) go to the Circle line platform at Paddington to go clockwise.

I know what you are trying to say but the situation has been quite confusing since Circle was "de-rounded".

I normally say Circle/H&C in comparison to Circle/District, or just say something along the lines of "follow the signs to the H&C platform and take any train eastbound".

Yes, I guess there's scope for confusion - although I think that once you're on what was the H&C platform you will be told that all trains go to King's Cross.

Interestingly, most of the itineraries from TfL (when I set walking speed to fast) between Paddington and Euston advise the Bakerloo & Victoria lines.

Depending on frequencies, and where exactly you are at Paddington, then if there is an unusually small passenger flow at Oxford Circus, that may well be better.

I am unsure of exact platforming, but I'd guess if you alight toward the rear of the train (I am sure someone can give advice on specific door position depending on length of train and the arrival platform) at Paddington it will be quicker to do H&C than take the descent to the "toob" (as the people you are currently with will be calling it).

I've done the Bakerloo/Victoria line option before without any major problems. It's another option for sure.

You could always just take the Piccadilly Line all the way to Kings Cross and then walk along to Euston - ensure there are no engineering works if travelling on a weekend.

It may actually be just as quick since Heathrow Express isn't as frequent and then the change at Paddington will add about 5 minutes at least, it is then around 15 minutes on the tube from Paddington to Kings Cross.

A Taxi from Paddington would probably be your best option if choosing the Heathrow Express.

You should also factor in that Heathrow Express doesn't stop at Terminal 4 and so you would need to get to Terminal 1,2,3 or Terminal 5 first.

As it happened the plane landed 15 minutes early, and I was quite quick off it. Some fast-paced walking in the terminal overtaking a few people and a well-staffed border control (and holding a UK passport) meant there was virtually no queue there. I got to baggage retrieval just as my bag came out, then walked straight out of the terminal just as a Picadilly line rail replacement bus arrived. Given I'd made good time, I decided to save some pennies and take it.

Bags loaded, got on, the bus left right away. We were out of the airport terminal 11 minutes after planned landing time! No traffic to be seen, so it was a very quick ride down the M4/A4 non-stop to Hammersmith, where I just got the tube to Euston (Pic/Vic, plenty of spare seats), and arrived with 40 minutes to spare.

A broken rail at Tring meant most trains were cancelled, but mine (the 10.45 to Glasgow Central) was running, and surprisingly not wedged. It made good time past Milton Keynes, especially considering the emergency engineering works.

All in all, it went pretty much like clockwork, and yet again a logical reason to justify taking the Heathrow Express evaded me.

Yes, it was T5 not T4. Oops!
