The 1640 hex service today is departing from platform 11 today.
Does that mean if using contactless you get a cheaper fare?

Yes. £11.50, instead of £25.00.The 1640 hex service today is departing from platform 11 today.

no chance, it's a platforming error, company's fault. I wasn't there today to clarifyPassengers who have been undercharged can contact HEX and offer tor pay the diffrence
I think that's what is known as a 'joke'.no chance, it's a platforming error, company's fault. I wasn't there today to clarify

I can guarantee you that no passenger will be contacting Heathrow Express to pay the difference because they were undercharged. If the train leaves from another platform and they get undercharged that is the train companies fault and nothing to do with the passenger. So the passengers just get a cheaper fare and that is the end of it.Passengers who have been undercharged can contact HEX and offer tor pay the diffrence
It’s been discussed a few times. Someone mentioned not long ago that staff intervened and led passengers to a different barrier or validator.…On the other hand it would be interesting to know what happens on the rare occasions when TFL Rail trains have gone in to the Heathrow Express platforms. As this would result in multiple passengers being massively overcharged. I wonder if staff are told to tell passengers not to touch out and direct them to an alternative barrier. Or perhaps passengers will just be left to contact TFL and arrange for a refund themselves.
It is unlikely that TfL services have operated into platforms 6 and 7. On the other hand, when they operate early services into platforms 2 to 5, which happens if the high numbered platforms are unavailable, people do get overcharged, particularly if no one is around to direct them to the readers on higher numbered platforms. On the other hand it would be interesting to know what happens on the rare occasions when TFL Rail trains have gone in to the Heathrow Express platforms. As noted upthread, this post had the ring of a joke.I can guarantee you that no passenger will be contacting Heathrow Express to pay the difference because they were undercharged. Good to hear as that would be a huge overcharge otherwise. London Victoria has the same problem where Southern trains have often arrived at platforms 13/14 but whether or not staff direct passengers to alternative barriers is pot luck. Sometimes they do. Sometimes they do not. It’s been discussed a few times. Someone mentioned not long ago that staff intervened and led passengers to a different barrier or validator.
So you are saying the platforms 2/3/4/5 barriers are set up to charge Heathrow Express fares instead of TFL Rail fares? Who on earth decided this? These are not the Heathrow Express platforms so i thought they would charge the same fares as the platforms 10/11/12/13/14 barriers? Why has it been done like this?It is unlikely that TfL services have operated into platforms 6 and 7. On the other hand, when they operate early services into platforms 2 to 5, which happens if the high numbered platforms are unavailable, people do get overcharged, particularly if no one is around to direct them to the readers on higher numbered platforms.
I certainly hope so! I can not imagine any passengers trying to contact Heathrow Express and pay extra! As noted upthread, this post had the ring of a joke.

It would. That has nothing to do with how the individual gates charge PAYG or contactless though, your season is already paid for, and works at any time, so they just check it is valid at Paddington.I know my gwr season ticket from padd to maidenhead opens the barriers at all Paddington platforms including 6/7
