Heathrow Express - day returns are no more

Why oh why have Heathrow Express stopped selling day returns? I know there are cheaper alternatives but for anyone who wishes to go on a day trip to London or pick up/drop off relatives and friends at the airport, paying £32 for an Anytime Return (or even £21.10 with a valid Railcard) is just ridiculous.

I didn't know they had, but would guess perhaps to encourage such passengers to use Connect?

Erm, quick question about this...

If I get a prv SOR to Heathrow Rail from Liverpool STNS, it costs £27, but says +LND MIDLAND ONLY

If you put in Liverpool-London now, you get a load of walkup London Midland fares, even cheap days... so Liverpool - London Waterloo, comes up as £17.50 with a priv, £70 without, (both SOR prices)... Is the ticket:

1) Valid on Heathrow Exp
2) Valid by any operator seeing as no London Midland services go to Heathrow Airport, yet issue a ticket with LND MIDLAND ONLY as restriction.

I think it should be London Midland and connections and is a typo!

Heathrow Express services (Heathrow Rail) are issued as an add-on to the London fare, so if the London fare is route 'London Midland' then the airport ticket will also be route 'London Midland'. This doesn't affect your use of LUL services to cross to Paddington or the availability on Express services.

Only thing is, when i check the Avantix application, it only shows that one fare as you should be aware there is also the Heathrow Connect service which is also stated Heathrow Rail and route states anything rather than 'Any Permitted'.

Heathrow Connect services are supposed to be issued differently. They are supposed to be issued as a ticket to Hayes and Harlington and a ticket from Hayes and Harlington to 'Heathrow Rail'*. Why they don't just have tickets to Heathrow Express and Heathrow Connect I don't know.

Which is why I use the London Underground. Takes longer, but much cheaper. Though, next time I visit the UK, I'll be using a BritRail Pass, which is valid on Heathrow Express.

London Paddington - Heathrow T1234 is around 15/20 mins.

Depart Paddington 11:10 > T123: 11:25 d11:26 > T5: 11:31

Then deapart T5 11:42 > T123: 11:46 d11:48 > Paddington: 12:03

53 mins in total for an expensive round trip bashing

Not terribly exciting, I know I spent enough doing it once a few years ago. One night I even bought that MeeterGreeter ticket to do a filler before the next HST, which was some form of a day return and only about £16. Wish I'd written which ones I'd had though. Now to cop all the 332s means waiting for endless amounts of 'free' HEx days when the Tube gets done up unless you've got a few thousand pounds lying around and you've got nothing better to do with it.

Im hearing that when/if that happens, HEX wont allow the undergrounds pax due to people trying to use their TfL tickets/passes after the 'Underground weekend' which then the customer sometimes kick up fuss as to why it aint valid no more!

Even when the Picc line does go down due to severe delays, customers are only allowed on the Connect.

This is true, then again TfL only accepts Connect tickets when things go tits up on the GWML. Ah well, its only fair not to accept HE tickets.

Alternatively, I believe that between Heathrow stations, free travel is available, so you could do the Picc up to Heathrow, and shuttle between stations.
