The BBC report just says filming has been suspended (admittedly they don't say how long for) until they clear a backlog of unseen episodes.

Axed both "Heartbeat" and "The Royal" which are both ITV productions with interior shots using the Leeds Studios and exteriors in Scarborough,Goathland and surrounding areas.
Real shame as Heartbeat been going since 92,but reports state cutting it due to costs.
We dont want more Dancing,Ice,Singing,Survivor type programmes showing stars who are desparate to relive past fame and fortune.

I couldn't believe they still use steam locos in the 70s.....
Maybe they could have another series based on the railway ( ideas for a name?) I'm sure most of you could come up with some storylines.
They could have the childrens outing to Whitby, with the driver stopping to put out fires beside the track. Or hikers injured in the Newtondale area could be picked up by the train as the ambulance couldnt get there.
Ok so who can think of some storylines? If we get a few I'll email them to ITV.

I didn't even know Heartbeat was still going, they used to show it here on the ABC, then on the 7 network and then it hasn't been on TV in possible years. Although I'd prefer Heartbeat over Dancing with the has beens any day.

Couldn't tell you, but I know my Mum and sister said this would happen the other day after that accident whilst filming.
What I (nor anyone else here) gets is why every single year at Christmas they have someone killed off (accident or otherwise) out of the main cast? It just makes for depressing watching if you ask me, at the time of year when we're told 10,000 per hour to be jolly. Hmm, yeah...
Not much on TV I'll watch, and personally I detest Heartbeat and all the rest of the rubbish other people have made an example of within this thread. I'd have more fun travelling on a 142...

Depressing viewing is not just limited to Heartbeat thats for sure. A lot of the local shows we get, Neighbours, Home and Away, Mcleod's Daughters and the rest all have a habit ending the season with someone dying or some other major trajedy and then at Christmas time they kill someone off but we don't know fer certain until the first episode next year. Hence why I don't bother with watching much TV. The only show I try never to miss is The Bill

The Bill, full of wooden acting (it's so obviously filmed on sets apart from the outside bits, there's no realism in it) and washed-up actors. In my opinion!
