I had 2 South West interviews on the 26th November (last week Monday) and they said they'll contact me by phone and follow that up with a letter if I'm successful and send just a letter if I'm unsuccessful. I just wanted to know is this normal for them to take longer than usual...?

Unfortunately the recruitment process is painfully slow, and as far as I can tell this situation is not unique to South West Trains. It took them nearly a month to get back to me let me know I had been successful! Another thing to bear in mind is that that they may have large numbers of applicants to assess interview and it all takes time. If you are a little worried and do not hear from them in the next few days it will do you no harm to contact recruitment and ask when you may hear from them. Another thing to bear in mind is that that may have large numbers of applicants to interview
Good luck though! :)

I just don't understand why they say up to 10 days if they take longer...? Lol. Thank you though!

Do they definitely phone you if you're successful, regardless of how long it takes?

Patience is a virtue. It can take months for Train Operating Companies to get back to you, regardless of the timescale they provide.
