Hi,

I'm planning a trip to Toton Bank on Easter Friday to try and spot as many class 60 locos as I can.

Having never been there before, I was wondering if any forum members have advice on what can be seen from the bank, and if binoculars are needed ?

Many thanks.

You'll see a lot, but not everything. Some loco's will be in the shed or parked in rows behind other rows. You'll definitely need a good pair of bins. Be prepared to take your time walking along the bank, scanning backwards and forwards - the change in height/angle means you can see some locos from one position but not another. If it's been raining, you'll need wellies or equivalent. If it's sunny, take some sun cream - it's a right sun trap on the bank.

It's also worthwhile walking along the side of the A52 dual carriageway. You get a head on view of the depot and can even see some of the locos inside if they've got the doors open.
