Sorry to rake up a 3 month old topic, but ...........
Initially, the site went down in November, this was due to a database overuse issue highlighted by the hosting company, as a result, they immediately suspended database use hence why no results were showing when searches were being made.
I spent the next couple of weeks looking up new hosts with mixed reviews, suggestions, informed responses etc and was more confused than I needed to be.
Then the festive buying spree started to show at work (I'm full time night shift at Morrisons), hence working hours rose along with a school run to do morning and afternoon, leaving me little time to sleep let alone sort the site out - or pay the monthly fees.
January brought the recovery period at work followed by a couple of weeks off from work which was spent starting my narrow gauge micro layout and quiet honestly, ignoring the website issue, even though I wanted it sorted out. Then tonight I searched social media, google etc for headcodes.info and was quite overwhelmed by some of the messages I was reading.
As a result, I have been chatting with the hosting company for a number of hours and they have highlighted one database query that appeared to be causing the overuse issue.
I have removed this query from the site scripts (a query that shouldn't have a major impact), and I am now awaiting their decision regarding the reinstatement of the database.
Just checking the website address (
http://headcodes.info) will show that the webhosts landing page has gone and the all familiar page is reinstated (albeit not working yet), indicating all hosting fees have been payed up and I am determined to get this site back up.
I did post a message on the Rail UK yahoo page in November explaining in-part as to why the site was down but I appreciate not everyone is subscribed to that list.
But to echo what I said in that email, all previously submitted workings ARE safe and backed up, it was the first thing I did when I received the email from the hosting company explaining the database had been suspended.
As soon as I get the decision from the hosting company (assuming its in my favour), I shall get the latest timetable file uploaded as soon as possible and hopefully business can be resumed, as normal.
What I will say to those that have used my site in the past is THANK YOU, never did I ever think I would create a site that would attract in excess of 6000 user submitted pieces of information every month.
CentralRivers.info got a good response, The 67 Depot (The 2nd coming(along with one of the original guys)), got an even better response (the demise of that site is a different story((I still have the databases)), but Headcodes blew me away, both of these sites gave me inspiration for some of the functions used on Headcodes.
Many thanks for the support up until now and from this moment forward
