Today, FCC put on an additional train from Hertford North to Moorgate, leaving at 09:10 (presumably due to extra stock that was due to go to Stevenage), but I can't find the headcode for this train anywhere! The train doesn't show on any open data train times, and it wasn't on the departure boards (nothing was!) or online.

So would this train have an official headcode, as it just seems to be run by FCC just for the day.

I got off at Finsbury Park at 09:54, so assuming it had a clear run into Moorgate, about 10:08

It appears that it's scheduled to run every weekday until 06/12/2013. http://opentraintimes.com/schedule/L01249

:)

Thanks, but the 09:17 always runs, but today there was additional one leaving at 09:10. It was delayed along the way and probably took the path after Bowes Park of the 09:17, meaning why it got in at the normal time of the 09:17.

Also if this didn't actually have a headcode, how would signalmen reference it? :P

I'm sure most lines have headcodes they can use for additionals. On the WA routes additionals, such as football trains and short notice additionals, were give "G" headcodes. Trains don't just run without a headcode. However, an unplanned additional may not necessarily appear on any openly accessible computer source.

It doesnt show on CC--B either, that in itself doesnt mean much though.
I have known a train I drove (when the service had gone completely base over apex) wasnt listed and I ran 3 trains (out, back and out again) with the same head-code, interestingly the route controller asked me what head-code I wanted to run as, I nearly said 1X01 but thought better of it and ran as 1Z79.

2J27, 0927 Gordon Hill-Moorgate arrived at Finsbury Park at 0954. Looks like its inward working to Gordon Hill was cancelled as well. Perhaps it started back from Hertford North.

On Greater Anglia, Football Specials still use "G", but during disruption, they now chose to use "9" as the class code, and then follow it up as it should be, ie 9B02. The idea being it causes less confusion for the staff, as 1G02 or 2G02 could be anything. "9" is supposed to tell us it's a special, but running in place of 1B02 doing the same stops unless advised.

The temptation to put it as 9Z99 would be too much for me! ;)

Thanks for the answers guys, might have explained it TEW. If there was any information on any board along the Hertford Loop Line at all yesterday, it might have helped, no one had a clue what was going on!
