Personally, I am not entirely sure how much it helps commuters from these locations as the prices still seem orbital to me. It should also be noted that Metro Cards to zone 6 and 7 will not include bus travel - a large oversight if you ask me and, frankly, a bit mean on the part of Metro.

Good news - can they make Sheffield/ Doncaster etc zone eight?

Given how many people commute to Leeds, and how full the trains are, I'm not sure if there's much capacity spare for additional people attracted by cheaper fares, but I know a few people who'll save a lot of money, so I'm all for it.

Leeds attracts commuters from outside West Yorkshire, so it's good to see the PTE going beyond local boudaries

Read the article and read the terms and condition and you will realise that this offer is about as empty as you can get.

Dayrover, Pensioner/disability discounts won't be valid. Fares will not be reduced to bring them into line with PTE's per mile. It is a glorified rail season ticket which if you want to get value out of, you have to go past Leeds.

It doesn't offer a bus option for bus travel in West Yorkshire. I can't understand how they can justify it. It makes travel more complicated and fails to deliver the value it should. It doesn't promote integrated travel and will make no difference to those who currently park further down the valley where they are more likely to get a parking space and a plus bus option.

If you look at the zone map, you'll realise it's an absolute joke. The Harrogate line suddenly goes from Zone 2 to Zone 6 between Horsforth and Weeton. The Skipton line suddenly goes from Zone 5 to Zone 7 between Steeton and Connonley.

And if you consider who benefits (ie no-one on this forum probably, and just a handful of season ticket holders) you realise it's not only a joke, but a huge con too.

Metro's attempts at self-promotion have backfired as it just shows them up to be a toothless, clueless bunch of fools whose policies are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard.

Now that the new Integrated Transport Authorities (old PTAs) can expand into neighbouring areas - I wonder if WY are planning to extend their boundaries?

For monthly ticket holders it will mean an increase from £123.20 to £131.00, but with that will come added flexibility to travel within zones 1-5; but I wonder how many people would want to do that? Around here the PTE does offers though, such as travel with a season ticket holder for £1.00.
