Season tickets from Harlington or Flitwick to London are the same price. The same goes for Harlington or Flitwick to St Albans. The two stations are described as being in the 'same area' on Wikipedia. What does this mean? Is a season ticket from London to Harlington valid for travel to Flitwick?

If that is the case, just buy the Flitwick season.

Similarly, MKC commuters should buy a season from Wolverton, it's the same price and offers the extra validity in case it's useful.

The fact that it says something on Wikipedia means that someone thought it would be a good idea for it to say that on Wikipedia. There may be more to it than that, but you'd need to check to be sure.

The paragraph on the Flitwick page seems to be referring to the fact that a Flitwick plusbus covers the area around Harlington station.

There's no such thing as a Harlington plusbus ticket, so the bit in that article may be out of date, or simply wrong.

The system doesn't quite work that way. The route validity of one ticket (London to Harlington) isn't impacted by the price of another (London to Flitwick).

In this situation, you should buy the ticket to Flitwick if they are the same price on the basis that you get better value for your money. You also have the right to start and finish your journey at Harlington, or any station on the line of route for that matter.
