Currently enjoying the late afternoon sunshine at Harling Road and am struck by the fact that there would be room for another 15 people on the collection of benches. I wonder what the highest “seating to daily passengers ratio” is. Incidentally - any hardy commuters wanting to sit down while waiting for their train are out of luck. Only an eastbound commute is possible and all 4 benches are on the westbound platform. They look fairly new, too.

Just noticed - an older bench (seats 6-ish) on the Norwich-bound platform. Makes sense but ups the ratio even more!

Scarborough's rather long bench probably gives it a decent shout, despite it's high patronage.

At 18” per bottom (!), I reckon Scarborough’s bench seats 304 people. Last year’s 863000 passengers is roughly 2465 per day, so still quite a lot of pushing and shoving to sit down. OK, the station presumably has plenty of other benches. Harling Road, however averaged 7 passengers a day - so that’s 3 spaces each!!
