Following my above posts about the Hampton Transport Gala which was held last September and was a most enjoyable event. A guard I know mentioned that there were the actual souvenir programmes available at some of the stations on that line and I picked one up this week at Shepperton. It was very interesting from the centre pages onward. It gave an interesting history of this line and also shows old maps of the line and route. Seemingly there was a very large goods yard at Hampton, I think it was used for coal and market garden traffic. Interestingly the junctions for this were facing Shepperton rather than London, so the trains must have had to go past and reverse back into the yards. It also says that Shepperton had a big goods yard, but gave no more details of that. Another point I noted, was in a map of the LSWR suburban lines, the Staines to Windsor Branch is shown with Staines as a Terminus station from Windsor, access to the Windsor branch from the main line appeared to be from a junction nearer Egham, going back towards Windsor via another Bridge over the Thames.
