Hammersmith Piccadilly track raising

I was at Hammersmith station yesterday and noticed that the eastbound track had all been relaid and raised through the station so the trains are now level with the platform. Previously you had quite a significant step down into the Piccadilly trains here. So far it's only the eastbound track so I presume the westbound will follow but I can't find anything on this project, does anyone know?

I must admit this is a brilliant idea giving level boarding without having to do anything to the platforms and it's surprising it's taken so long to happen at Hammersmith.

They did the same at Northfields some time ago, but again, seemingly without any publicity.

Yes, eastbound platform was raised 29-30 July, as no District trains will serve these platforms.
All ready for the 2024 Stock.
There is another closure 16-17 September which may see the westbound raised.
Westbound still a drop down.

Interesting to know, it would certainly make sense to complete the job at the next weekend closure.

I wonder if the reason this wasn't done originally at Hammersmith was due to District line trains occasionally stopping on these platforms historically. There was a cross over just past Barons Court I believe for trains to switch between lines.

The separation was only completed in February.
Until then it was possible for District trains to shuttle from Acton-Hammersmith via the fast lines.

Are there any official proposals to do anything about the remaining compromise height platforms, i.e. something that would radically change the tube map?

Interesting that this has been done "on the quiet", is it in TfL's plans to start raising track to get level boarding where possible?

I imagine they'll want to do Baron's Court as well, as another cross platform interchange between the Piccadilly and District.

Finchley Road would be nice too, seeing that the Jubilee Line platforms are exclusive to that line.

lowering usually has added problems with drainage etc.
District is almost level at Barons Court.

There is still a step up to the District line trains at Barons Court station, although adding a slight hump on the District line side of the platforms can also solve this issue.

Are there any plans to address the lack of level boarding at many of the stations between Ealing Common and Rayners Lane? Sudbury Hill station recently received lifts, but boarding ramps are required to allow wheelchair users to board or alight from the train.

That was quick! I had been passing through Hammersmith on the Piccadilly on 28 July and noticed the large step up to the platform - much to the delight of a parent getting off with their tank-sized pram!

With the work to raise the track on westbound platform 2 next weekend 15-17 September, District (Earl’s Court-Richmond/Ealing) and Piccadilly (Hyde Park Corner-Northfields) will be suspended after 2130 on Friday evening and through Saturday.
On Sunday the Piccadilly closure is Hyde Park Corner-Acton Town.

A further District only closure from Thursday 26 October-Sunday 29 October will probably result in the removal of the platform humps provided for Piccadilly trains.
