Hallam Line Gradients

Looked all over for these and can't find them, and don't have a copy of BR Main Line Gradients readily available.

Particularly looking for Leeds-Barnsley.

Can anyone help?

Even if you had that book it only covers the bit north of Horbury Junction, in 2 parts.

Barnsley was not on a main line then.

The gradient between Barnsley and Horbury Junction is as follows

Barnsley Exchange 1 in 102
Darton Station 1 in 106
Between Crigglestone and Flockton 1 in 91 steepening to 1 in 89

So do you mean that from Barnsley to Darton it was 1 in 102? And is that down to Darton or up? I'm not local but it's a line I travel to my girlfriend's.

Travelling from Barnsley to Darton you are travelling on the "Down " line,the gradient at Barnsley however is climbing in the "Up" direction,but about 1/2 mile before Darton the gradient changes to the opposite direction it climbs towards Darton,so it's falling from Barnsley,the line then drops between Crigglestone towards Flockton and Horbury Junction.

Travelling from Barnsley to Darton you are travelling on the "Down " line,the gradient at Barnsley however is climbing in the "Up" direction,but about 1/2 mile before Darton the gradient changes to the opposite direction it climbs towards Darton,so it's falling from Barnsley,the line then drops between Crigglestone towards Flockton and Horbury Junction.

1 in 102 until half a mile before Darton, climbs at 106 through Darton until between Crigglestone and Flockton?

According to this it is generally up (height) towards Barnsley, 1in100 through the tunnel, 1in225 through Haigh, 1in100 (down) south of Darton, level past Silkstone Jn and then up again at 1in180 to Barnsley.
