Half 142 Unit at Heaton

I passed Heaton depot today on the Metro, on the closest line to the Metro it looked as though there was a 142 with the back end missing - as in part had been removed after the articulated part. Any guesses what it was doing?

twas there last friday, could be the unit that fell apart through durham? other half inside for repair?

I think they have to be seperated to allow one half of the unit to be lifted on the jacks. Certainly all the 142s that were on the jacks at the open day a few years back were only one half of the full unit.
