The first trains to Broadway are today.

They are running about 75% full today, so plenty of seats! I guess 3x 8-car trains help!

Trains run at 75% full Saturday and 90% full on Sunday with the better weather, so plenty of seats.

Broadway Village is rammed though! The free shuttle bus is good, so no parking worries!

The steam Gala on 26-28th May has 4 visiting locos, GW King 6023; USA S160 no. 5196; GW 64xx 6430 and BR 70013 Oliver Cromwell plus the 5 home locos, giving 9 in steam.

There will be 5 trains running, 3x mark 1 rakes, loco hauled DMU set with GW 6430 and a freight with guards vans to ride in. That is 14/15 trains each way on each day.

It shouldn't be too crowded either, as with just 3 trains running at the wartime event there were plenty of seats despite the huge numbers travelling.

I hope the Gala goes well. I will be in the area on the 19th so I will be visiting Broadway station for the first time. I'm a member so I can use my free ticket coupon on the weekend before the Gala.

The Gala trains were full on Saturday, but had space on Sunday.

With 8 full coaches plus a loco on the rear the locos are working hard!

Is there a run round loop at the new Broadway Station? (I just wondered why there was a loco on the rear?)

Yes there is. Double ending is being used to speed up the timetable & run a more frequent service. The Broadway points are not operated by the signalbox yet so a run around takes a while being done by hand! Also the Toddington to Broadway section is the longest single track section so timings are tight on that section.
