Hi all,

Some early gen, Gloucester & Warkwickshire Steam Railway (GWSR) diesel gala is on April 4/5th, but the planned visiting loco D9009 is now very unlikely to attend :(

They plan to bring in a class 26...IIRC..as their visiting loco, otherwise all the home fleet should be in action, including the 20, FL 47 and 73129 with its new coat on (wonder what that looks like)

I should be attending, mainly as its tradition for me to go there. Most railways I do a few times I get bored of the same locos, but not the GWSR ones for some reason.

cheers,

James.

is 26043 the one in Toddington sheds?

And yes i know the 73 is BR blue, which is a shame, do you know what blue? There's blue..blue and white (like E6005 ect) and large logo blue..

I'm sure I read somewhere it was going electric blue which is the light blue like on E6005 like you mentioned, although that is getting rather faded now, been sitting at Kiddy for ages, traction motor problem I believe.

Shame about the Deltic not making an appearance, but hey. Might make an appearance myself, that 26 is very much required and I still need that damn 73! Ta for the heads-up James, will let you know before then if I'm going.

RI magazine's roumers section said that D9009 wouldn't attend, apparently because it's owners were dictating too much about it's use at the railway!

GCR wanted a Deltic this year, but they approached the DPS (owners of 9009), who were asking for £7 per mile on one power unit, or £12 per mile on 2 power units, so maybe the GWR has abandoned the plan for a Deltic for the same reason as the GCR!

I might come to this gala though, I quite enjoyed the July 2008 G-WR d.gala!

As it was RI that first published the rumour that D9009 would attend, I guess by then publishing one that it wouldn't ensured that it was correct with one out of the two stories! The DPS announced a week or two back that the loco wouldn't be attending.

I too look forward to 26043 running, tho I've not heard that it will be ready for April. It's one of two surviving Class 26s I've not had!

I preferred the NSE one really, being the only example left, which is now not the case :(

Wonder if they will re-apply the HG depot sticker on the side
