Hi, I had my tests for GWR earlier this week at Swindon. We only did the paper and computer tests and also a situational judgement exercises at the end. The MMI is the second stage which you get invited to if you pass.
I found out the results quite quickly to. I did the tests on Wednesday and found out yesterday that I'd passed.
best of luck.
ahh perfect. thank you, I can focus on the tests and think about stage two for another day
Good luck to you too

Wonder if anyone can help,

i got an email stating i got my psychometric tests (4 paper 4 computer), will the MMI be on the same day? the email doesnt state anything else other than the 8 tests but the materials I got sent to me says there might be an interview?
This is for GWR if that makes a difference.

Thanks
Hi, I did mine all in one day with the MMI at the end if you had passed. This was also for GWR.

When I asked about potential course start dates, they mentioned that there’s a course starting in May. I imagine with the depot manager not being in, it might take a bit longer for you to hear back. I actually received a response about an hour later confirming that I had passed my DMI.
Oh damn may is pretty soon, but yeh not sure how long it'll take to hear back though. When did you do your dmi?

Late January, but don’t think I’ll be on the may course as I haven’t received any updates from them since the last email, I received telling me that I passed my DMI.

Ah I see, that's kind of crazy that you won't hear for ages then one day it'll be like here's a date for medical and then start date. Have u had to do anything with the references?

Hello, I went for my assessment in Swindon on the 03/03 and heard I had passed on 05/03. Just wondering if anyone has any idea of when the 'second' stage (MMI) will be? Sounds like it's not going to be anytime soon with the end of the email saying 'process may be extended as a result of changes to workforce requirements.'
Any help would be greatful, thank you

Hi, i had my assessments one day after you, also in Swindon. I'm not sure if you had the same person but the lady running the assessments said that she would be on holiday this week but they were looking at stage 2 dates in April and May. So I'm guessing we'll start getting invites from next week onwards for the stage 2 when she's back from Holiday.

Hi all,

I have my assessment this week in Swindon, for any one that’s been there! I need to take the car as going on else where that evening. Is the train station car park the best option? I see on line it some time gets full. Should I just try and get there early or is there other places I can’t see much on the maps

cheers all

I had my initial assessment day at Swindon on 6th Feb, found out I passed on 9th Feb with the email saying I would be invited for the second stage. Not had anything since then.

Thanks both, appreciate the replies.

I parked in the train station car park, I got there around 7:45-8:00am and there was plenty of room. Milford house is a short walk, 10-15 minutes away.

Which is management speak for not as many drivers are retiring as we thought so we don't have the vacancies. Also Sundays in the working week is yet to be agreed so no need to put a training burden out there only for people to be twiddling the thumbs more often (same or less work and more drivers just to be clear).

I think that’s just automated the last part I had the same email saying that but got the email 2 hours later to book the mmi

Agreed. I think that last part is a generic addition to the emails they send out to try to dissuade people for constantly asking for updates. I had it on every email I received to say I was successful at each stage and was contacted not too long after to book the next stage.

Have you heard anything from Exeter yet? I passed my DMI in Exeter in September too.
Not just yet bud - I'm thinking it will probably be more towards the end of the year - I imagine lots of training staff will be off on holiday to warmer weather over the Spring/Summer same as most people do and then availability will be better in the Autumn

I have my assessment day next week. Just have a few questions for anyone who has recently been to do theirs:
1. Can you take your own pencils?
2. Are you allowed to underline or highlight the info for the TRP test in addition to making notes?
3. Do you do the tests in the order of the practice materials they sent?
Thanks lots!

hi, i did my assessments in Swindon a few weeks ago. so to answer your questions:
1 - all the pens/pencils/erasers etc were provided on the desk when we went in. They didn't mention anything about using your own but if you need to you can just ask. They are very friendly and accommodating.
2- if i recall correctly they asked us not to write on the info sheet for the TRP test because they wanted to re-use them. so its notes only.
3 - the order we did the tests off the top of my head (i might have missed some):
  1. Group bourdon
  2. bleep counting / scanning the phone book
  3. TRP rules test
short break then onto the computer tests
  1. perception test / spot things in the traffic scene pictures
  2. 2 hand joystick test
  3. the vigilance / stare at the grey square for 30min
After everyone finished the vigilance we did a situation judgement exercise on the computers. Its not a pass/fail test on its own and its not timed but they said it feeds into the MMI and your answers will be considered in the overall decision of pass/fail.

Well at least we're in the same boat. I was just thinking some of the guys from the other stations were going through quicker but I assume stations like Paddington have a higher turnover or drivers due to various opportunities like the underground. I was going to email them but I'll leave it if Exeter's waiting time is this long for everyone. Its that fear of missing out! Thanks for getting back to me!

No worries bud - you never know we might be on the same course together in future so it pays to stay in touch! Give us a shout if you hear anything

Hi mate got my 'successfully passed' email for my DMI. Just wanted to know what yours says as mine said I have been put on a reserve list pending any future roles?

When I asked the train manager about course dates he mentioned the one in May but did say its very unlikely that anyone being interviewed now will go on that course but he did say there is another course around July/August.
