Well done mate! I only entered the talent pool for Paddington a few weeks back, so could end up on the same course at some point... Did they give any indication to a possible start date?I had it today.! The email came a few hours after, couldn’t believe it. Best £12 i ever spent on parking
Can anyone advise whether GWR will want to re-interview folk if they’re in the pool for over 6-months? I’ve heard that DMIs generally only last 6 months due to company policies etc....or interviews in general. I wondered if you’re ‘locked in’ if you will, once in the pool, and won’t need another interview?
As far as Im aware (in pool for Penzance since last Aug), no new DMI needed once in a pool waiting.

99% sure that your DMI will remain valid regardless of time (within reason I guess).
Thanks chaps. I’m hoping it won’t be long but I’m prepared for a wait. They have at most 18-months before I’ll need to redo psychometric testing so I’m hoping they took this in to account when saying I’ve been successful as they don’t envisage it being that long.....might be wishful thinking on my part admittedly

I’ve recently received a conditional offer from Reading for the role of trainee train driver, I currently work in a safety critical role and I’ve had two safety critical medical s before and passed with no issues.
I wanted to find out if anyone has recently done a medical with GWR for the role of trainee train driver and if so what test did they use for colour vision? Someone I know has recently had a medical with GWR and they didn’t use the tried and tested Ishihara test, they used another test.
Any help would be appreciated.

Congratulations! Sorry I can't offer you any advice on the medical. May I ask when you had your DMI and entered the Talent Pool? I'm currently waiting in the Talent Pool for Paddington. Trying to get an idea as to how long I might be waiting...

I think it depends on which depot you have applied for. Some are moving slowly whereas others are moving very fast.
I applied for Exeter and have attended and been successful as assessments 1 & 2, and have my DMI on Thursday.
I applied at the end of November so for the same pool as you basically. I didn’t need to take any assessments but had my DMI on Jan 22 (ish) and heard is been successful in my application for the pool a few days later. Agreed it varies a lot on demand for certain depots. I thought I’d be in the pool for years to be honest judging by the size of the depot I applied for, but apparently not. Just goes to show you just can’t tell for sure, or assume anything.

I applied for Worcester and haven't heard anything back yet so it seems that the bigger stations applied for are getting dealt with sooner, perhaps due to more demand for drivers.
I think it’s to do with demand but don’t think the size of the depot necessarily has much to do with it.
I applied for Fratton which is about as small as it gets for GWR I believe (it’s primarily SWR). I was surprised to receive a conditional offer so soon (from being placed in the pool it was about 2-months).
If you’ve passed the MMI already (it’s part of the psychometric testing) it’ll be the DMI (just a standard job interview).

The OPC (Occupational Psychology Centre) do the Psychometric testing for GWR, whereas GWR will conduct DMIs themselves.
Ok. Apologies but my MMI was with Scotrail.
Ah, wrong end of the stick on my part (did Scotrail not use OPC?). It’ll be valid with whoever you go with. My MMI was with Freightliner (who use the OPC) so GWR will know exactly which interview to invite you to (I didn’t have to tell them I’d completed anything they just invited me to my DMI).
If you’ve done an MMI and passed (no matter who it was with), you won’t have to do another one for GWR unless it was over 5-years ago, so it’s a safe bet to research/study for a DMI.
