Hi

just wanted to vent my frustrations . I was successful at passing TM assessment in August . I was told up to 9 months waiting in a pool for a job . I’m currently doing a temporary contract as I got redundancy in the summer and after GWR told me I was successful I stopped job hunting and doing the temp
Job to tide me over . I’ve emailed once November for an update ... no reply and once a week last Friday ... no reply . Left a voicemail a week ago and no reply :(
Getting frustrated now with the lack of communication .

They have a small recruitment team that cover the whole of the business so I’m sure if they had a start date they would let you know, as it is and I know it’s frustrating you just have to hold on, they are currently just completing a driver recruitment campaign with some assessments still ongoing as well as customer host applications so talent pool applicants will be low on the priority list not to say your not valued as you are yo get to the stage your at, what depot is it as that can also be a factor, PAD seems to have had the most movement in the last 4-5 months

I feel your pain I have been on hold for a GWR conductor position since July. As far as communication goes every once in a while I drop the manager who phoned me after interview a quick email for any updates and have always received a courteous reply so maybe you could try that route?

it’s highly frustrating being in a pool but having read through this forum unfortunately there are plenty of examples, there is no 100% guarantee of a job at the end of it.

I haven’t got Anyone’s email other than the resourcing one :(
I patiently waited for a response since my first email 4th November ( nearly 2 months ) . I think I’m just frustrated as for the last 2 years I’ve put my life on hold ( Barclays gave me a years notice of redundancy ) so bad to pull out of the house I was buying and I’m still waiting now for another job .
Thanks for the response ... hopefully I’ll get an update soon and I can plan my life a bit

What depot as you never know someone there who’s on the forum or knows someone might be able to give you a clue when a vacancy might open up, could be waiting on a TM going driving but they have not got a course date yet?

Funnily enough GWR, were advertising for Train Managers in January.

Nicbetyy - I would think this is a good thing for someone in your situation. Why recruit for new TMs, when they have people in the talent pool like yourself?

I can only assume roles are coming up and you'll be allocated a place before anyone who has applied in January.

Hi.

I undertook the same TM process for Plymouth. Assessment/interview August followed by a phone call about 6 weeks later to say there were 9 vacancies and I had passed the process for an "on hold position".

Here I am still waiting!

I have maintained some contact with the recruitment personnel who have stated that GWR are going through a large amount of internal changes due to driver recruitment and this will be ongoing into 2020.

There was nothing to say that there is no guarantee of the job. The majority of people I have asked (including GWR staff) have said if that's what I have been told there will be an offer at some point.

We are approaching 6 months in lieu therefore there is still scope for something to come through within the 9 month window.

I wish you all the best & if anyone does have any reliable information on this thread it would be nice to hear...
