Not sure whether this is quite the right place to ask this - earlier tonight got a notification on my phone that GWR had done a "transaction" with my bank to verify that my card was okay for payment.

Have not made a booking with them since April so was slightly concerned - I logged in and they do have the details of the relevant card saved on my account. Is it likely they just check all such saved cards every so often?

I also got this so I assume it is just something their system does, never had it before.

I had a £0.00 authorisation on my Barclaycard from SW Railway for some reason. I am not sure I have ever bought tickets from them, so am keeping an eye on things but no other suspect transactions so far. I got an email from Avanti the same day advising that they are closing my delay repay account due to non-use, but can't imagine any reason that the two events might be linked.

I had a similar email from GWR as I haven’t made any delay repay claims with them for two years. I rarely have occasion to use GWR but it was a simple ten second job to sign into my account in order to keep it open.

Interesting yesterday I got an email from SWR thanking me for submitting a delay repay claim for a journey I made in January that I had already submitted, and they paid up ages ago. I haven't been on SWR's delay repay site for a month or so.

Certainly a few coincidences going on here.

I had exactly the same from the both of them!

I doubt, unless there was any internal knowledge whether we would get an answer to this as Customer Resolutions probably won’t have as clue
