I see today the 14:25 Exeter- Waterloo was cancelled so GWR ran a 14:25 Exeter-Yeovil Junction in its place!
That's got to be a first! Had a Castle on a XC Voyager Diagram on Saturday It's nice to see GW stepping up when needed.I see today the 14:25 Exeter- Waterloo was cancelled so GWR ran a 14:25 Exeter-Yeovil Junction in its place!
That implies cooperation and/or nifty operations planning plus spare crew and stock just waiting for something to do!I see today the 14:25 Exeter- Waterloo was cancelled so GWR ran a 14:25 Exeter-Yeovil Junction in its place!

I thought GWR was getting very short of diesels!
It seems to have only run between Paignton and Exmouth with a change of stock (to 150263) at Exeter.Today's Ad-Hoc Answer appeared to be this Castle on the Devon Metro.
Did not see it with my own eyes but is fantastic if its true
The full set of workings for the HST set wasIt seems to have only run between Paignton and Exmouth with a change of stock (to 150263) at Exeter.
So the 16:48 Exmouth was a 2 car 150 from St DavidsIt seems to have only run between Paignton and Exmouth with a change of stock (to 150263) at Exeter.
Several castle sets spare perhaps with IETs taking over some workings? Still in serviceable condition pending formal withdrawal?I thought GWR was getting very short of diesels!
It was, and it was wedged....So the 16:48 Exmouth was a 2 car 150 from St Davids![]()
It was the same unit that did the 14:25 (and same guard!) After it went to Yeovil Junction, empty via Castle Cary and Taunton then back on the 17:25 to CentralThe 1725 to to Waterloo started from the bay at Central on Monday as well, a 3 car 158 was provided up the hill into plat 2 for the interchange. An outbreak of common sense!
Yes, but they won't have done it gratis. That's got to be a first! Had a Castle on a XC Voyager Diagram on Saturday It's nice to see GW stepping up when needed.
Depends what's going on. I doubt there's any exorbitant charge or they wouldn't bother. EMR occasionally runs trains for Cross Country further north when there's disruption (usually running Nottingham to Derby ECS trains in service vice cancelled XC trains to Birmingham for a Derby connection), and they do the same in return (the last train from Nottingham to Leicester has been an XC 170 and Leicester crew on plenty of occasions vice their ECS move back).Yes, but they won't have done it gratis.
