GWR probation period

Could anyone advise me how long do you have to be an employee with GWR before you can apply for a different position?

I’ve secured a position with GWR whilst I’m still going through a selection process for another position with them as well

Any help is appreciated!

Depends on the role. The lowest I’ve heard of is 6 months.

I would imagine with the opening up of the 2019/20 & 2020/21 talent pools a fair few people applying for non driver posts and the talent pools at the same time. How receptive would HR & hiring managers be to the idea they could potentially loose that employee within a couple of years. Would there be a risk of them not employing you if you were in the pool before commencement of the role? Or in the case of the OP, you start a role and you are offered a place in the pool, granted the pool is not a firm offer of a job.

I’m currently sat in a pool waiting for Conductor positions with GWR. I was due to sit the driver tests last week but withdrew as I wasn’t sure it would look great to my prospective employer chasing a different career at the same depot while waiting to be offered a job.

Generally I would think it’s 6 months for CS roles that aren’t safety critical.

Hi I am starting a customer service position on 23/09 and was asked to attend an assessment for the talent pool for train driver the same day, I got an email back saying I could still attend as not a similar role, and you can still apply for positions as long not a similar job role.

Hi everyone, I'm currently on a reserve list for the Service Delivery Assistant. Is this the same as a talent pool? I was unsuccessful with my interview in August but was told if something comes up they will get back in contact. Has anyone got any further information on this as I would be very grateful.
