Hey guys,

The GWR Wiki page says that there are still Pacers in operation, about 8 of them - is this still the case as apparently there are cascades within the company with Sprinters? What line(s) would I have a chance finding them on if I went on a weekday during the start of August or on a Saturday in August?

Many thanks in advance,
From the Cricklewood Sidings,

They're a common sight operating stopping trains out of Exeter: sometimes singly; in pairs; or in combination with a 153 or 150/2.

So, to ride or photograph one, your best bet would be on the hourly Exmouth to Paignton stoppers which reverse at Exeter St David's, or on the Exmouth to Barnstaple route, which is also hourly. This later route includes some jointed track - so hold on tight! All the sets are now painted GWR green.

I agree that Exeter is the place to go. I'm not sure what your plans are (e.g. see one Pacer, ride many Pacers, etc.), but the Devon Day Ranger can be a good value ticket for exploring the area in a single day.

They are only diagrammed to work on the Triangle of Doom Exeter/Exmouth.Paignton/Barnstaple. Regularly in pairs and also attached to 150s or 153s. Occasionally they may escape and go to Plymouth or Bristol. Penzance, but rare occasions

Interesting they are attached to Sprinters frequently - Is this a short term bid to make the trips they work as accessible as possible to disabled users?

You'll see them on a daily basis, in fact diagrammed, to provide capacity
