GWR Oyster Validity between Gatwick & Redhill

I have come across this post on X/Twitter with GWR stating that Oyster is not valid between Gatwick & Redhill. I believe that the case is that Oyster is still valid, or previously has been despite what GWR is saying. A commuter has also responded to the post with emails saying that Oyster is valid between these stations, so is GWR misinforming customers?

This has been discussed quite recently with the outcome that it was advised that guards would receive an updated brief.

I travel between Gatwick Airport and Redhill on Great Western Railway all the time. I always buy tickets which are double the cost of a contactless fare however I have always known GWR to be hit or miss with accepting them. I saw a guard today charging full fares to those that have tapped...

Referring to a GWR webpage that’s been written solely for the introduction on the Paddington to Reading route, and doesn’t mention anywhere near Gatwick…

Did Oyster and Contactless Redhill to Gatwick actually get enabled before Contactless to Reading?
