Some of ScotRail vehicles are taking numbers in the 48000 range -APT numbers !

Are they? The only ones I have seen 48xxx numbers for are GWR 'GTi' conversions:
48101 (42168), 48102 (42177), 48104 (42102), 48111 (42093), 49101 (44055) and 49112 (44079).

Surely, it would have been best if the ex GWR HST’s had gone to XC where they could perhaps have been 6 or 7 coach sets and the 4 coach XC Voyagers had gone to Scotland or to GWR?

The ScotRail franchise requirements specifically banned trains with internal toilet smells ie; Voyagers. So no Company that put in a bid for the franchise was allowed to have Voyagers included in their rolling stock plans.

Not to mention that the Voyagers would be a very long way from Central Rivers TMD, which might preclude such a suggestion.

The date that will the first short HST enters revenue earning service with GWR could be as late as June according to information passed on to me today!

Still a while though but I can wait. Then I can take a ride to Weston-S-M on a summer day trip from my local station. Instead of riding a hot crowded 2 car sprinter.

That rumour has been doing the rounds for days and is wibble. Wabtec are still (as at this week) hoping to get the first GWR set out next month. Entry into service follows shortly afterwards.

Well, it'd only be a matter of time before the pencils went up Blackadder IV's nostrils and the underpants went on his head with all this wibble.
Personally, I'm holding fire on the short set classification debate until they enter service. Wabtec may want the next set out next month, but since most of us have no idea of what goes on in "the plant" (I'm sure there's some parts of the scheme that even @brel york considers a grey area) all we can do is hold our breath.

The issue is the grey areas, there not big issues but lots of little ones

I think you will find that Clarence Yard knows the exact situation and isn't posting 'wibble'.

Sorry if I've missed it, but anything going to the interior? Will if be refurbished to the new spec GWR (as on the 387s) colours or just stay in FGW blue?

Really and you know that how? Having looked at one of the conductors diagrams ( he should of been working a 2+4 set but was obviously a 150) the diagram did indeed say 255 rather than the usual 253.

The classification on diagrams and the actual classification can be different though - for example at South West Trains when the Class 458/5 came into service, crew diagrams had them as Class 459 to differentiate from the standard 458s.

Will the arrival of these sets allow further Sprinter cascades to Northern?

No, the two cascade programmes are not connected. The bulk of the GTi sets arrive later this year and are for the Cornish half hourly timetable introduction in December 2018. All bar 2 of the Northern bound cl.150/1 sets will have gone way before that.

Ok, so these sets are to boost frequency rather than replace other units.

Lol. Should have done these conversions years ago before or after the Chiltern method in 2011 (which took less than two years to develop). Even the MK4 coaches have sliding plug doors (built 1988-92). Anyone for CAF MK5's or Hitachi 800's.

My understanding is that the plug doors for Chiltern were complex, late and over budget. This was because there turned out to be little consistency in the body shape of the mark 3s and everything had to be done bespoke rather than using standard parts. In addition the operation of plug doors generally is less reliable and the maintenance more expensive because they have more moving parts.

The current delays seem to be more to do with getting the new setup to work with the HST braking systems rather than anything to do with the doors themselves. If that's the case they would likely have been encountered whether they'd gone with the new setup or the Chiltern-style plug doors.
