GWR Mk 3s at Ely

Just witnessed a take of FGW liveried mk3 coaches being hailed north through Ely by a Rail Operating Group 47 with a mk2 can either end of the consist.
I guess going for storage in the new sidings at Potter Group? Couldn't find it on RTT.

Nice to see and hear a 47 again, but of clag too! Got a crappy video on my phone for my train mad son.

Going to EMT to add TRFBs to the Grand Central sets according to the thread on here about those sets.

Weren't they swapping GC TRSBs for GWR TRFBs though? Which would mean that movement bringing in the black ones and then the purple ones going in the other direction?

The working both have to reverse at Ely, but the working I posted corresponds with @trebor79's observations.

Alhtough 400T there and 105T back suggests they were dropping more than they were picking up!

No they're at Bournemouth and Eastleigh

They're being worked on - either internal refurbishment at Eastleigh, or repaint/retractioning at Bournemouth (from memory, although Bournemouth might also be doing some internal work?)

Er... no. It’s why they were moved ages ago and there’s a 76 page ongoing thread about their refurbishment, retraction, for reintroduction with SWR...

Does anyone have an up to date list of which Mk 3s are stored at Ely. I've tried to keep track of which have been delivered here, but the consists of some trains wasn't reported.

Very possibly. If GSR manage to secure the remaining 6, it may well be the case that they'll be tarted up in Eastleigh after the 442s are done.
