GWR Induction

Hello,

I will be shortly starting with GWR and will be based in Swindon. Where will the induction most likely be, and what does it involve with GWR? Is it 5 days or 3?

All depends on your role but the very basic company induction will probably be no more than two - three days at most. I think most induction courses are held at Paddington.

But don't quote me on that

Mine was for a couple of days and was held at Swindon. I think it is role dependent though as others who started the same day were there for the week.

Many Swindon-based people have an induction hosted at the football ground!

I think Holbrook House is now the main corporate training centre.

There'll be a corporate welcome, followed by Great Experience Makers for starters; then any job specific training such as conflict management, first aid, fire safety, disability awareness, PIDD, safety & train evacuation, PTS, retail etc(which could be at other training centres).

I can confirm that Holbrook is where they do the Corporate Inductions. Mine was there, back in August. I am there every week as part of the Apprenticeship scheme so know how much is done there and most of the new intake into GWR is inducted at Holbrook.

Which one is Holbrook House? I've been to Millford House and Western House

It's a very nondescript office block on the same road as the station, in the direction of the tunnel to the designer village, Milford and Western Houses are within spitting distance of its back door. GWR rent the top floor.

Well each are quite role specific. My induction was simply one day before training began at Holbrook House. I have completed my Station Operations training and yesterday revisited Holbrook House for the 'Effective Communication for Managers' course. As I am an Apprentice, I guess my training will be very different to that of a job with one role.
