Many different morning services from the West Country up to Paddington (via the B&H line) have been quite substantially delayed in recent weeks. The TMs seem to be apporitioning the blame to not all diesel traction engines running in the set, causing delays before hitting the electrics at Newbury. I'm surprised this issue hasn't yet been fixed and it seems to be affecting multiple sets. Can anyone shed any more light on this? Is this a systemic issue affecting a lot of sets?

Reported elsewhere that fuel pumps are disintegrating with bits finding their way into engines and fuel tanks.

Is this affecting just the GWR sets or all IETs?
I believe as GWR are older it's only affecting them at the moment. Could affect other operators over time but hopefully have a fix by then

The Azuma 801s, do they suffer as they are a bit older?
The 801s are electric (with one diesel engine which only gets rarely used)? They're also newer than the GWR 800s.
Pretty much whole fleet replacement of fuel pumps and a full fuel system clean, they are getting about 3 done a day, it requires the whole Generator unit to be dropped from the train for the work to be done, they are getting more back into service but the work can only be done at certain locations.
They haven’t yet determined the cause but it’s being looked into, quite a few 9 car sets are running around on 3 out of 5 engines, if running on 2 it’s likely they will be pulled from service, where rail adhesion has been quite bad yesterday and today they have also been receiving Not to Call orders at certain stations or being held in other places so they are guaranteed a clear run up inclines to avoid getting stranded.
