I have been given an original GWR Bib and Brace by one of my volunteer colleagues. I am now searching for a GWR Jacket to match, ie. of the light blue denim type,as opposed to the darker blue I need to get, fairly easily from the NYMR, to match my trousers and other Bib and Brace.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where I may be able to find one? Don't fancy going out with mis-matching kit, doesn't look professional at all.

Cheers,
Keiran

Hope you were given the overalls, and didn't pay someone for them. GW pattern are over trousers you wear with braces, not a bib and brace. Lots and lots of people trying to make money out of "genuine" footplate gear, esp on eBay. If you aren't certain of something, ask someone before you buy. (General advice, not just aimed at you - seen too many young hands duped).

If you must have a GW jacket, http://www.footplateequipment.co.uk/gwroveralls.shtml

Colour - they fade with use. I'm using some original BR kit at the moment, which is now a just off white colour.

A suggestion- when you are just starting out in this hobby, do not pay a fortune for gear. As long as you are clean and smart, that's enough. How you perform is far more important. I'm always wary of a cleaner, who turns up with ALL the gear, usually topped off with a horrible plastic greasetop cap. Performance seldom reaches expectations in such cases. The railway version of the football "Full Kit W*****"!

My mistake, they are the overalls - and they were given to me by one of the passed cleaners. I shall post a photo when I get home if that would help? Still being new to it, I still dont really know that much about anything! They're of the light blue type as I said, I was just after a jacket of similar colour. All I can find are the dark blue ones, as one would procure from somewhere such as the NYMR's shop....
