There’s a Block to Electric Traction in force on the Down Main (between Reading & Didcot) due to an issue with the OLE.

Thanks, I noticed there seemed to be a lot of equipment in the fields around Goring. Hopefully gets fixed soon!

I wonder how many hours of disruption bi-modes have saved here and on the ECML by being able to do this? Must be lots.
Another interesting question would be:

As the vast majority of ‘electric’ trains on the GWML are bi-modes, is there less urgency in carrying out repairs to the OHL system?

And:

How many defects and faults that elsewhere would be considered urgent, have repair work postponed/delayed until the middle of the night or the following weekend?

Surely that wouldn't be the case between Reading and Didcot (as per the original post) since there will be regular 387 services through there?

They can, and mostly do, run on the relief lines

Seems to have been ongoing for quite a few days, I noticed this on my train home on Wednesday evening.

Probably not that many on the southern half of the ECML because there's still a number of 91s around, and now of course there are the 803s too.

Thanks for the update @FGW_DID was about to post that this was still going on! I guess as per the discussion above the bimodes ameliorate some hassle, but seems to reduce the urgency in fixing the problem!
