Hello all,

I have a DMI interview next month, I’m hoping someone has some insight as to what interview questions they might ask, tips, experiences etc

Many thanks in advance

You'll probably be asked about the company, traction, routes, etc. out of whichever depot you've applied for (I'm guessing Plymouth from your location). How do you feel about/can you cope with shift work, working alone for long periods, the amount of learning involved, etc. You'll get some "Can you give me a time when....." type questions most likely. You might get some about non-technical skills for drivers.

Hope this gives you an idea.

All the best.

In my view, the DMI is the opportunity for a manager to see if you would be a good fit for the depot. Yes there are questions that challenge your knowledge about the company and the location etc but my feeling was that the interview was really about what you would bring to the depot from a personality perspective. Almost a gut feel type interview disguised as questions. There was an HR person in my DMI but she did not speak and made no notes that I saw. of course that might just have been my DMI and others have a different experience.

I had my DMI earlier this year, and I agree with what was said above, It felt like the managers wanted to get to know you.

GWR seem to do the DMI last (it appears some TOCs this is done early on) and by this point, you have passed everything to get to this stage. They aren't there to fail you, but want to know who you are as a person. Obviously there are questions, but nothing you can't answer following MMI in my opinion.

Good luck!
