GWR Conductor and laser eye surgery

I recently applied for a position as a Conductor on GWR. I’ve done all of the online application and was successful at that stage.
I have been scrolling through the files on this forum and came across a post about laser eye surgery and conductor’s.
Now I can’t remember anywhere on the application asking about laser eye surgery.
Can anyone who has recently applied and been successful in getting an offer of employment for a conductor role for GWR let me know at what stage they mentioned about laser eye surgery?
I really don’t think I’ve seen anything yet! Surely they would state it at the early stages. But, as I’ve said I can’t remember seeing it.

During one of my (since unsuccessful) applications about a year ago, I was offered a chance for Laser Eye Surgery, I emailed HR and they told me that it would disqualify me from the Conductor and Driver application process, if that has changed since I do not know. I agree that (if it is still the case) not being on the advert is a bit unhelpful considering how many people have had it done.

Do you think I should contact HR and ask them directly? I really don’t want to highlight the possible issue with them but at the same time I don’t want to NOT declare it or lie if they outright ask me at any stage. But I’ve got my hopes up for this position and I think it would be so unfair for them to mention colour blindness but nothing about laser surgery.

Laser eye surgery can easily be detected by examining your eyes with an opthalmascope which all GPs will have and know how to use.
However a detailed eye examination like that isn’t part of the recruiting process so it’s unlikely to be spotted.
But, further down the line if there was an incident for example a more in depth medical examination could be required and it may be noticed and you’d be in trouble.
Personally I’d speak to HR before you go too much further.

I too would contact HR, imagine if there is an incident and it turns out you have had it done but not declared it, you would be out on your ear in a second, loss of job, pay, pension and albeit in extreme circumstances criminal charges or at least a very uncomfortable appearance in a court. You need to ask yourself is it really worth the risk?
