Anyone albe to confirm 800001 002 derailed at North Pole this morning?

There is a photo posted on another forum taken from a passing train showing the end bogies of 800 001 and 800 002 (where the two units are joined together) apparently derailed on points within the depot.

Also today's runs between Reading and Wantage Road/Swindon - which used these units yesterday - do not appear to have taken place, according to RTT.

Sounds quite serious, hopefully this is a one off! I wouldn't be surprised if todays test runs are cancelled, they are set to be operated by both 800001 and 800002, and if they derailed today then I wonder how long it will be before we see them on the mianline again? Could be a while perhaps if this is serious.

Just glad it was within depot premises.

Well what I'm trying to say is trains that derail don't return to the mainline immediately? And anyway, no point speculating, we don't know very much as of yet.

Are the points in North Pole done locally via levers or is there a central signalling panel for the depot?

All Hitachi sites are LOPS

LOPS?? (Local Operated Points & Signalling?)

I think what Space Phoenix was getting at was asking if the points are manually operated from out on the ground i.e by a point lever or controlled from a signalling panel within the depot complex.

Oh yeah sorry, they are all done by a computer system provided by bombardier.

Not really, I think we're just amazed that Bombardier has managed to produce a fully working signalling system for albeit a small part of London at Last. I just hope it doesn't contain any of their infamous buttons though

Going back to the 800s, GWR posted another 2 pics on Facebook of their fully painted and assembled 802s on the back of lorries in some docks this morning.

Are they/will they be cleared for the Greenford branch triangle (provided that the triangle isn't severed by CrossRail) for enough distance for the triangle to be used to turn units?

When heading home from a conference in Bristol, I saw 800002 and 800001 at Reading in P15 whilst waiting for the 1603 to Paddington. They were on diesel power, which makes sense since despite the wires being up on P15, they aren't actually turned on. Didn't know they were doing OLE tests, thought it would just be diesel tests. Also suprised it was those units, especially after the derailment at North Pole. They must be cursed, as something bad always occurs when they are in question.

They had arrived on the up fast over the flyover on electric power, unfortunately the overhead wires are not in place, you can work the rest out for yourself!

Has any testing on the existing heathrow-padd wires taken place yet? I remember someone on here saying a few weeks back they were only cleared for diesel on the section?
Any particular reason they started testing under the new wires before the existing?

They can test IET on Mk3 OHL equipment much less disruptively on the ECML.

THre testing under the new wires is to validate the testing undertaken at Old Dalby on Series 1 OHL.

There are whispers that IEPs might not be authorised to use electric power north of Newcastle or if they are authorised they might be subject to speed and/or power restrictions on that section. Reason being that planned power upgrades have been shelved. There are also related whispers that VTEC have been asked to look at life extension of their HSTs.

Might all be nonsense of course ...
