What? Please link the photo that clearly shows one step into the carriage and then a small ramp into the saloon on the carriages with engines. And I'm sure I read it was a double step in Modern Railways which is not known for its inaccuracy!

Within the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbESxbVrpaQ you see the Hitachi Concept of how the interior will look.
The video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oz_ZcdsZPF8 shows that there is a step into the carriage, but alas I cannot find anything that shows that there is a small ramp afterwards once you have entered the train.
2 paths in system tonight, one from Merchant Park - York, and one from Merchant Park - Peterborough.
As for the ramp inside between carriages, blink and you will miss it, it is ever so slight it's hardly noticeable, and I speak as someone who has physically been on board a fully fitted out set.

However while I have no picture I can confirm I have read in multiple places (not just here) that it'll be a single step but a shallow ramp.
The first video shows no ramp into the saloon. Second video neither confirms or denies there is a double step but by the fact that there is no ramp into the saloon on the first video suggests there is a double step because of how high the floors are.

Well I'm positive that MR mag stated there would be a double step. So until someone can provide a picture showing just a single step that is what I will believe.

It depends what you mean by "double step", though? Do you mean like a Mk2, Mk3, Pendolino or Voyager (which some would call one step), which is what I would expect? Or by "single step" would you mean actually no step, i.e. the stepboard the same height as the saloon like 15x and Mk3 EMUs?
What I mean is - is this a double step in terms of what you mean?
...as I expect it will be like that, like almost all UK IC rolling stock is?

The concept interior in this video one that Hitachi made when they first announced their AT400 (very) high speed train, which I assume will be what they will be bidding with to win the HS2 rolling stock contract. It isn't want we will find on Hitachi's AT300, and definitely not what you will have on an IEP 80X.
Now I am not 100% certain but I believe the two driving vehicles will have level entry, ie the interior floor level with the exterior step / board. Whereas the intermediate vehicles will have a step up to the interior floor level from the exterior step board as we find on Mk3, 22Xs etc. Any slowp I believe is only to be found in the corridor connections between the driving vehicle and an intermediate one.
As I said I'm not 100% certain having not seen inside any of the 800s, but this is the impression I have been given from what I have read from people that have.

Don't know recent but remember some time ago the 'ramp' was described as a gentle rise in floor level by about an inch to the centre of the carriage from the door area.
What your suggesting would require a step or steep slope between corridor connections.
As far as I am aware all carriage floors are the same height at the door ends, the only difference is the driving car floors are perfectly flat throughout the carriage length while the trailer cars have a very gentle slope towards the centre of the carriage to accommodate the engine.
I'd be amazed if they did have such a discrepancy in floor height between the driving and intermediate vehicles. Not only would it cause a fair bit of hassle with underbody clearance, but it'd be quite a steep ramp if it had to be accommodated in the inter-vehicle gangway. It would appear to be a Mk3 style step up inside the vehicle, but I can't really comment on how it compares to the other classes. I did however manage to get a screenshot of it from the DCA video on making the mockup, it certainly looks no different to that on a Mk3

Note - Pantograph is above this door / Vestuble.
The base of the doors looks to be the same height, so I think that discrepancy in the height is to do with the pantograph well above the doorway and the reduced height of the ceiling in that vestibule.
Indeed but I must admit I hadn't noticed the doors were different heights until seeing that photo
If there is any difference in floor height it can not be that much otherwise its going to cause havoc with the catering trolley.

Whoops! Completely forgot about the pantograph well eating into the ceiling height. That would make a lot of sense!

What the latter does highlight is how awkward and pointless narrow stepboards are. If we can't get the floor to the same level as the stepboard, we should really consider installing a proper step of at least 8-10" (like your stairs) so people can use it with their foot rather than awkwardly stepping over it.
Pendolinos and 14x are just about the only UK stock with a usable stepboard.

How? It's a full sized step you can use like your stairs with handrails on the doors. It could do with being lower, but in terms of width it strikes me as a better idea.
800003 is new, did it come from Japan, or is it the first UK built one?
It was inside the factory complete on 17th Sept but un-numbered, I was under impression that the first 12 were being built in Japan.
How are they progressing with the build? Are things speeding up now?
Honestly couldn't tell you, that's 1st time ive seen any stood outside.

My understanding was that there was to be 11 trains built in Japan, some class 800, some class 801 first then Production would continue from Newton Aycliffe.

I note from RTT there is a 5X80 North Pole to Stoke Gifford tonight, which doesn't appear to be running. Presumably had it run, by process of elimination it would have been 800004.
Or 800002.
800101 is also working tonight, currently working Merchant Park - Stevenage.
