The 5 car sets have problems built in. How about no standard class wheelchair space.

So are you saying that DfT have specified a new train that is not PRM compliant?
Can we clarify this? I thought there was one (or more) wheelchair space(s) and an accessible loo in each end vehicle, since they had the level floor. And one end was first class, the other end was standard class. As shown in the diagrams here: http://www.hitachi.com/rev/pdf/2014/r2014_10_105.pdf

I've heard that too, 5 car only has w/c space in 1st but there is an accessible loo in standard with no w/c space.

On a 5 car set you get two wheel chair spots on DPTF
On a 9 car set you get 2 in DPTS and 2 in DPTF.
That seems utterly bizarre!

If free upgrades are given is that actually a problem?
I believe that is the plan, as they can not provide it on a 5 car, any standard wheelchair customers will be upgraded to 1st class.
9 car is not a problem, as 2 spaces in standard and 1st.

The potential problem is that whilst the wheelchair spaces are in 1st class on the 5 cars, the wheelchair accessible bog appears to be in standard
PRM TSI regs require 2 wheelchair spaces in a train of less than 205m length, there is no requirement to provide them in all classes of accomodation so if they are all in First Class it is compliant. In the same way on trains of more than 205m but less than 400m 3 are required and GA had chosen to provide them all in standard class in the new Stadler 12 car Norwich sets. Personally I think this is one area where the TSI is less prescriptive than the former UK RVAR regs. Where an operator decides to provide them in First that is acceptable but if they are only provided in Standard doesn't this descriminate against passengers who wish to travel in First? That said the published plans of the Norwich sets had no toilet at all in First class, though I believe this has now changed and a toilet will be provided, perhaps there will now be a wheelchair space too?
This is simply a non-issue.
The five-car 800s comply with the PRM-TSI regulations, which require there to be a minimum of two wheelchair spaces in a train of up to 205m in length - so a seven-car IEP formation with two wheelchair spaces would be compliant.
The nine-car sets, with two standard wheelchair spaces as well, will have one space more than the regulations require.

Not all people who find an accessible toilet helpful are wheelchair users - but would probably appreciate being seated close to the one in the standard class driving coach. And the accessible toilet also incorporates a pull-down table for baby-changing purposes, so there are other reasons for it being provided.
Perhaps study the seating plans more closely - what do you think that is at the corridor connection end of the first class driving coach?

That's only a draft layout, it might not necessarily be the final seating plan

Sadly yes. Complete with the "1930s inspired Cocktail Bar". Another step in the NR where the designers have ran away with Reality. I believe the stools have already been dropped on safety grounds, while the first Mk3 BSO is now back - reclassified from BFO. There's More info in the Night Riviera threads.

So that means on a 2x5 there will be 4 spaces in first but none in standard. At least it will go some way to solve the problem of people using the wheelchair spaces as pushchair spaces.
Yes, so there will be same amount of spaces as a 9 car, just means standard passengers get a free upgrade to 1st class

Saw a class 800 for the first time in the flesh yesterday at York Station.
Went past while I waiting for my train home. Very impressed by the external looks of it.
Didn't catch the number but it was all over white and was definitely running on diesel only.
