Currently, I have only seen photos of the ones with the original seats in them, but what about the ones with Richmond seating? Are the seats being swapped with originals or are they not yet refurbished?

I may be wrong but as far as I’m aware, all Great Western Railway 158s are now in GWR Green with the refurbished interior featuring original style seats only. I’m almost positive there are no more Richmonds.

They do appear to have re-gained the original BR Seating during their latest refurbishment, although perhaps not as clever is the noticeable reduction in the seat spacing on these! That may be in part due to the newer cushions but they certainly feel a lot closer than before.

It is the cushions, the layout is still as-built give or take priority seats. They are thick and very hard. Also you sit higher up, so with the steep rake that gives less usable space.

There was spare 158 seating that had been put in 153s at one point.
