There was another solo 150 out today - I had 234 on its own on the 16:03 from Newton Abbot to Paignton.
Yep, since the 143s were withdrawn there has been a single 150 out everyday since except for last Sunday.

Incorrect, 16/12 the 2 car 150 turn was 158956, although some disruption did lave 239 out on its own for a trip or two in the evening.

Ah yes, I think that was the day when services were cancelled in the morning due to the rough sea down at Dawlish so caused major disruption but every other day since the 143s have been withdrawn except 13/12/20 there seems to have been a single 150 out.

Saw a singular 150 out on Paignton-Exmouths today. Shame 143619 didn't come out to play and join it!

143618 was well needed today going by the service I was on. It looked like there was some event on at Newcourt, lots of people joined the train there and nearly all rows of seats were occupied between there and Exmouth.

Was there also a 2 car 158 running Barnstaple - St James' Park today?

143619 is in Bristol currently at SPM depot so would have been near to impossible for it to have come out and been on Exmouth to Paignton services; 143617 is in Exeter though so that one could have come out.

Yes, 158765 was on the Barnstaple line today.

What's happened to the 166s then?
Due to the shortage of train crew with GWR currently there hasn't been many days when a 166 has been on Exmouth to Paignton but 166208 was on there yesterday, 143618 and 150216 covered the 166 diagram on Friday as cover.

Not so much a shortage as in the wrong places.

1 x covering for a 255
1 x stuck at SPM awaiting move to Exeter
1 x covering for a 166.
wrong places and shortage is same they are short of them where they need to be as other areas are short

Factually speaking though of 150s there is not a shortage, 17 are required in service a day and 17 are provided. That is not a shortage?

This is why the pacers have been held in reserve - there is not an unexpected shortage as such; the extra HST diagrams were not expected to be fulfilled on day 1 (the first set of extra vehicles have only just arrived back at Laira). It was always planned that pacers would be able to cover over the early weeks of December.

The timetable change date was when the base plan changed. What happens on the day makes best use of the available resources at that time.

It would seem prudent for the powers that be in the convoluted chain of command, to seek an extension beyond 31 Dec for the continued emergency use of the remaining three Exeter class 143 Pacer units.

I've been asked by @Anonymous10 over on the TfW Pacer withdrawal thread, to put up some pics of the 3 GWR pacers that are now at Landore. I only have a few taken with my camera phone and with the gloomy South Wales weather, and dark green livery I find they don't show as well compared to the TfW units on site. Anyway, here's a few pics for you:

That's TfW 143 622 (l) and 604 (r) next to the GWR sets.

The DfT want them gone - they have made their views crystal clear to the GWR management.
