Good to see quite a few people out on Friday and Saturday riding on and photographing the trains that were HST for the last time,

On the diagram above one question answered today thanks to RTT the 1937 Worcester is indeed formed from the Taunton service, a couple of people had told me that it could be a new set for the Worcester,
Happy to see it's basically a through Taunton - Worcester train as that's something a little different,

43022 worked its last train yesterday evening the 1800 Cardiff - Plymouth being retired joining fire damaged 43005 and in need of overhaul 43041,

The next 3 to watch for withdrawal are
43009 due engine overhaul end of January
43094 due engine overhaul end of January
This was the reason for 022 being retired,
43160 was due a G exam end of December but has a good engine until the autumn

After these 3 the ones coming up for work by the end of February are
43088 due major exam Feb
43097 due engine overhaul Feb
43158 due major exam Feb

GwR HSTs to be stood down

Hearing a (very very strong) rumour that the GWR 2+4 HSTs are to be withdrawn completely by December 2023. No plans to replace them either but it will be bye bye to Cornish half hourly. A regressive step in my opinion, I only hope it turns out not to be true.
