Still planned for December 2019 timetable change date.

Let's hope that is achieved. I notice that in spite of all the trials and tribulations along the way every effort seems to be made to accomplish the cascades as near as possible to the planned date. Thank you once again for clearing the matter of Barny 158s up.

Let’s hope so eh! Let’s also hope that the 2+4 HSTs will be refurbished by the end of this year.

From a post I saw a while ago, the next one is due to be released from Doncaster around the start of February and then one in March at some point too.

Yes I saw that one myself. It’s strange considering GWR were supposed to be at the back of the queue behind ScotRail and XC for getting modified MK3s but the GW ones seem to be coming out a bit quicker instead!

Hi

Does anybody know what the current situation is. Is there still just 1x 4car HST set in service. How many 150s still in service in Bristol area and how many turbos are there in Bristol now?

Well, when I was at Cardiff Central last Wednesday, around 16:10 I saw a 3-coach Class 158 come in as the 12:53 from Paignton (heard it announced). I was pleased for passengers that a more InterCity train was used on this quite scenic route!

That's what has been booked for it since the start of the year

Looks like GWR are preparing to send 153325 elsewhere. Not seen 333 but rode 361 and saw another blue 153 around Exeter today, so either 369 or 329.

Train vinyls are in the process of being removed as seen in the picture, but the photo is quite grainy as I couldn't get any closer (than Platform 6 at Exeter St David's).

So eventually the plan is the have i think 19? (maybe) 150/2s, and then 2 150/0. How many 158 will Exeter TMD be allocated at when are the pacers leaving.

Has 153368 gone to the East Midlands region, or is it still with GWR?

Any idea about what's happened to 153333. Has it gone yet, or was I (un)lucky enough to have missed it today?

Both 325 and 333 are having their vinyls removed, with 333s being half complete. I believe they were due to be taken off during it's recent overhaul, but managed to be pressed into service Yesterday and Today in half "Visit South Devon" & half London Midland livery.

368 Is now with EMT, having transferred over with the last of the Angel Units last year.

The last 153s with GW are 325, 329, 333, 361, 369 - the Porterbrook 5. Co-incidentally all bar 361 are ex Midlands units having come from the former Central Fleets over time.

Many thanks for the clarification.

I can get 368 at the end of the month when I am in the East Midlands. Out of the Porterbrook 5, I require 361 for haulage.

No problem. Incidentally this won't be the first time 361 has operated in Wales, having had a brief spell with ATW in-between Northern and First Great Western. It still retains some of it's Newton Heath graffiti behind the guards panel!

On Friday 361 was noted on the 16:08 Exeter St Davids to St James' Park and 369 on the 15:24 Exmouth to Paignton. I have a photo of the two at St Davids in adjacent platforms (1 & 3). Would post photo if I knew how to! Don't expect that there will be that many more opportunities to photo two at the same time.

I think once the last 5 153s go at the end of the month, there will be some short forms on the Devon Metro. Least the 143s won’t be going anywhere for the time being.

As I understand it they are leaving today (Sunday) and there is a working from Exeter TMD to Westbury DMU sidings at 16:22. Can't see how and when they get from Westbury to Bristol SPM (there initial destination as I understood things) and thence across the border.

The Devon Metro lines were treated to a diagram with three coupled together on Saturday - 333, 369 and 329. Would post a photo but don't know how to! 325 was on Exeter depot and 361 was working the Looe branch I believe.

End of an era.

With the end of the Porterbrook 5 in very near sight, the already rather stretched west fleet will have to be squeezed a little harder with 150221 having an "Earth Fault" today at Laira Junction.
