GWR - Can't Apply Again For 6 Months?

Just a few quick questions regarding this practice-

Is it for every role across the brand or just a similar role? (E.g fail to get a job as platform staff at Oxford, can't apply for another platform staff but can apply to become a cleaner?)

Do any other operators have this rule?

Is it flexible or applied strictly?

Hi Scott, photo was taken with brand new clean shoes on an A-Stock which was due to be turned into tuna cans a few days after this photo for a joke.

Most TOCs have this procedure. I applied fot gateline assistant once and failed and it said on southern email cannot apply for the same position for 6 months.
So here I am a web developer for a large corporation.

It's to stop you applying weekly..the railway is full of rules and regs - if you can't follow this initial ask, will you be a suitable candidate, once employed, in the TOC's eyes?

It's not just GWR, it's a First Group policy and as stated above strictly adhered to, about 4 months ago we were looking to relocate North and the wife applied for an onboard revenue role with First TransPennine Express but was unsuccessful.
She recently applied to GWR for a platform role at Oxford but the application was rejected automatically due to being unsuccessful for a similar role within 6 month policy!

I thought that was quite harsh especially as it was different franchises.

I was under the impression it was just within the same service group - ie customer service, driver, engineering, clerical etc?

Hmm, I'm not so sure.

If it is the same job (even division) then yes. However, I was turned down for an HQ role in July. I then applied for a job in Operations in the October and I got the job.

Same job, then yes. Completely different job and I'm not sure why the restriction would be enforced.

That makes it even more of a mockery!

Can't apply for "similar" (term used very very loosely) job, regardless of companies within the same group, within 6 months but apply for a "completely different (and more important, some might say,) position" (driving for example) within that time and no problems what so ever!!
