When or if tests on the 230 on the Greenford Branch are finished and they enter service, what would happen to the 165 which would be freed up? Would it go down to Devon and Cornwall branches/another part of the GWR network, or to another TOC? Especially if the 230 thing is successful, then some 165s or 166s could go to Chiltern as a stopgap to strengthen their fleet while they remain static in terms of new trains. Or would displaced GWR turbos only be used to replace some sprinters?

Probably into the maintenance float to try and help alleviate the chronic fleet availability problem that GWR has.

At the moment it is only a test bed. There are no real plans for any displacement of Turbo stock.
