I saw a wheel being made for this loco on the hairy biker prog last night. They were casting a new driving wheel for it. I was wondering if the wooden mould was a Swindon original or has it been made recently?

Recent. What you ought to have noticed ( if you were a GWR man) was that at the end, they mistook a Number 1 boiler on the retrieved 2-8-0 for a number 7 boiler and the last part was a lot of old nonsense about it being destined for the 47xx.

Recent but certainly still a worthy piece of pattern makers craft.
How did these engines compare to an 8F?
T-E, speed and economy? Sure they did not have the route availability.

I learnt long ago never to take TV facts for real! I remember watching Palin's great railway journey in Ireland, they said that a man who had a small private cinema was in Holywood, when it actually was South of Comber, about 10 miles away.
