Was in Guildford this evening and the sidings by Farnham Road car park are empty and unused. In previous years, remember these being filled with 455s / 450s at various times.

when are these sidings made use of if not overnight?

I think you will find that they are used overnight and at the weekend, in fact they've added 2 further sidings, on the down side.

There seem to be some temporary alterations on RTT this week, could that be connected?

Looks like it, the 3 class 5 trains that stable there next week seem to be using either Guildford platforms or Woking sidings tonight

Thanks for the responses, just out of curiosity - went by about 23.15 last night and completely empty which made me wonder - thanks!

They have been out of use for several months because of safety issues with the walking routes used by the shunters within them. The Down (North Box) Sidings still see daily use. One of the roads in the up sidings should be back in use soon, put probably next year before all 3 roads are back in use. From a quick look at the track it will be quite apparent no trains have been in the sidings in some time now.

The 8-car 455 booked to be stabled in there generally stables in Aldershot platform 3, one of the 4-car 450s stables in Guildford platform 6 and the other 4-car 450 either in Woking Up Sidings or Farnham Depot.
