Bit of crayon scribbling, but why not build a footbridge here?

The station footbridge is obviously the most optimal choice, but if that's out of the picture and Farnham rd is incredibly uncomfortable for the average person to use, what else can be done?

Could Farnham Road bridge be expanded to accomodate a wider footpath?

A couple of reasons:

1) that would land smack in the middle of the new development
2) No one has a spare £10m+

Don't think so. It looks to land at the end of Rupert Road down by the tracks. It's less clear where it might take off from. Bridges require quite some space - eg the pedestrian bridge over the A3 at the American Golf place or at the Wooden Bridge - so it seems a bit silly to go to all the trouble and expense (£10m, say) when we've already got a perfectly good one at the station. Well we have, haven't we?
