Guildford delay-what can/could I claim?

I’m most likely going to chalk this one up to experience and write it off but I wonder if I could have taken a more appropriate course of action.

I had a route any permitted anytime day single from Wallington to London Road Guildford, held as an e-ticket, with a suggested itinerary of Wallington-Sutton-Epsom-London Road. On arrival at Epsom I found the Guildford train was cancelled. I exited Epsom then re entered using keygo and got the next train to Dorking, walked round the corner to Deepdene and bought a paper single to Guildford, arriving at Guildford approximately 39 minutes after my scheduled arrival at London Road. A train from Guildford to London Road was pulling out as I arrived, so I exited Guildford and walked to Stoke Park from there. The paper single was retained by the Guildford barrier so I no longer have it.

I did not scan in at Wallington as the barrier was open so examination of the e-ticket would show an exit scan at Epsom with no other scans. I’m guessing to write off the keygo fare from Epsom to Dorking and the Deepdene-Guildford ticket but do I have any sort of delay repay claim here?

Why didn't you stick to your original route via Effingham Junction to London Road and just wait for the next train?

Original train was the 07:31. Next train was 08:28 meaning I would have missed parkrun start.
