They run on C2C routes to and from Fenchurch Street. Basically south Essex.

So don't worry, you'll only come across them if you are using the old LTS lines: As Class172 has pointed out, they're early Electrostars, and undoubtedly less comfortable than the standard Turbostar because they have 3+2 seating.

This may be a problem as the largest single chunk of required track for me anywhere is all the LTS section except the main line from Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness. Therefore I require Barking to Pitsea via Tilbury and the bit through Ockendon, which means I'll have to go on these trains at some point. Luckily I dealt with the Tilbury Riverside branch by my favoured means of it closing before I had to grice it, in a Clayton West, Balloch Pier and Tunbridge Wells > Eridge sty-lee!

Not an 85. The windows down that side of an 85 were in a shallow recessed panel running the full length of the body. It's an 81 for sure.
