We have a lot of 'chavs' which you would not expect from the rest of the district.
We are near something quite important to the Olympics.

As nobody has given a correct awnswer I will tell you as I will likely be away from the forum for a few days.
The awnswer I was looking for was Feltham.
-Surrey isn't exactly well known for chavs.
-It is in Greater London but officially in Surrey.
-Near Heathrow airport where many olympic visitors will arrive from.

On a main route to the west, used to have an american air base nearby and now has a major bypass road, both of which had lots of protest against them. Aswell, half of the bypass runs along the former trackbed of the railway which followed the same route.

No to all, the town I'm thinking of isn't somewhere you'd generally associate with either car manufacturing or shopping.

This town is also the birthplace of members of 3 extremely successful rock bands.

(Incidentally, Leicester does have the Noble car and the Tesco there in 1961 was the largest in Europe)

Leicester sort of fits but I don't think Noble can really be called a well known car manufacturer. I'm surprised the Telegraph article doesn't mention the supermarket I'm referring to as it was also a Tesco store built 10 years after the Leicester one.

The town I'm thinking of is in the Midlands.
